Hi, I’m Roger Befurt, a Microsoft Certified Solutions Architect and Microsoft Certified Trainer. I’ve spent years working with organizations of all sizes, but my passion lies in helping small and mid-sized organizations unlock the full potential of the tools they already have, especially Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform.
My journey into tech started with a simple curiosity. How can technology make work better for real people? Over time, that curiosity turned into a career focused on helping teams become more efficient, more connected, and more confident in the tools they use every day.
The “Ah-Ha” Moment That Drives Me
Over the years, I’ve found myself drawn to helping people achieve the “Ah-Ha” moment they suddenly begin to see the bigger picture. They realize these tools aren’t just for email or documents; they’re much more powerful and capable.
It’s not just about teaching features. It’s about helping people see how technology can solve real problems, save time, and create better experiences for employees, customers, and leadership alike. That’s why I do what I do. And it’s why I started this blog.
Why I Started This Blog
This blog is my way of sharing what I’ve learned, not just about the technology itself, but about the business outcomes it can drive. I’ve seen firsthand how Microsoft 365 and Power Platform can transform the way companies operate. But I’ve also seen how often these tools are misunderstood or underutilized.
Too many organizations think Microsoft 365 is just Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Too many believe that the real power of these platforms is reserved for large enterprises with deep pockets and dedicated IT teams.
I’m here to challenge that thinking.
The Enterprise Myth
One of the most common things I hear is: “We’re too small for that.” Whether it’s SharePoint, Teams, Power Apps or Power Automate, there’s a perception that these tools are only useful or even usable by big companies.
I have found that this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Microsoft 365 is designed to scale. It’s flexible, powerful, and accessible. With the right mindset and strategy, even the smallest organization can use it to streamline operations, improve collaboration, and deliver better outcomes.
You don’t need a massive budget or a full-time IT department. You just need to understand what’s possible, and how to get started.
What You Can Expect Here
This blog is for anyone who wants to make better use of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform. I’ll start with the basics, breaking down what Microsoft 365 really is (hint: it’s not just Office apps).
We’ll explore:
- SharePoint Not just a file dump but a powerful tool for content management, collaboration, communication and automation.
- Teams More than chat, it's a hub for communication, meetings, and integrated workflows.
- Power Platform A gateway to automation, custom apps, and data insights.
I’ll walk through how these tools can work together, starting with simple use cases and building up to more advanced solutions. Whether you’re looking to automate a manual process, improve team communication, or build a custom app, there’s something here for you.
The Power Platform Journey
One of the most exciting parts of Microsoft’s ecosystem is the Power Platform. It’s a set of tools that lets you automate tasks, build apps, and analyze data.
We’ll look at how SharePoint can act as a launchpad for automation, using Power Automate to streamline approvals, notifications, and data collection. Then we’ll explore how Power Apps can help you build simple tools tailored to your business, from tracking inventory to managing customer requests.
As we go deeper, I’ll show how these tools can evolve from personal productivity boosters to full-blown enterprise-grade solutions. The key is starting small, learning as you go, and building with purpose.
Looking Ahead
This blog is just getting started. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing practical guides, real-world examples, and insights from my own experience helping companies make the most of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your digital workplace to the next level, I hope you’ll find something here that helps you move forward.
